Eastbound lanes of I-285 have reopened, hours after a chain-reaction crash involving a Dunwoody police SUV.
Lanes had been closed since just before 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Dunwoody police said an officer was working a wreck on the right shoulder of the Perimeter near Chamblee Dunwoody Road. As traffic slowed, a tractor-trailer hit another vehicle, causing the chain-reaction crash, agency spokesman Sgt. Robert Parsons said.
The driver of the truck was the only person injured in the collision, he said. They were taken to a nearby hospital.
Inner loop traffic was brought to a standstill through Dunwoody, and onlooker delays grew on the outer loop.

Eastbound drivers were eventually forced off the interstate at Chamblee Dunwoody Road, according to DeKalb County officials.
“Lingering delays and backups will continue,” the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency said when the interstate reopened about 1:15 p.m.
