The northbound lanes of Ga. 400 have reopened after a person was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning, Sandy Springs police said.

The road was shut down for nearly three hours after a driver involved in a crash got out and was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the roadway, Sandy Springs police spokesman Sgt. Sam Worsham said.

The driver who hit them fled the scene, authorities said.

Multiple people were taken to the hospital, but their conditions weren’t immediately available.

The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. near the Abernathy Road exit, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

All northbound traffic was diverted onto Abernathy Road and drivers were urged to use Roswell Road and Peachtree Dunwoody Road an alternate routes.
