A large piece of metal was blown off an apartment building at 14th and West Peachtree streets during Monday night’s storms, causing a traffic nightmare in Midtown during Tuesday’s morning commute and beyond.
Both roads were blocked Tuesday morning while crews cleaned up after a piece of a decorative mural fell into power lines and landed about 200 feet away, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Authorities kept the roads closed until crews could safely remove the other half of the metal from the side of the building.
“Please avoid the area at this time,” Atlanta police said on Twitter. The closures caused heavy delays in the area for hours.
The mural, approximately 95 feet tall, was completed late last year, Channel 2 reported.
