Crash, downed power lines close Gwinnett road for up to 6 hours

A major Gwinnett County road is expected to be closed for up to six hours.

A collision has shut down a major Gwinnett County road and it is expected to stay closed for up to six hours, police said Monday afternoon.

The crash knocked down power lines, shutting down Braselton Highway near Hog Mountain Church Road, Gwinnett police said.

Braselton Hwy near Hog Mountain Church Rd is currently shut down due to a collision that knocked out power lines. The road is expected to be closed for 5-6 hours while crews repair the damage. Please seek an alternate route pic.twitter.com/2Q8Et8ul8v

Crews are working to repair the damage.

Storms are forecast to hit the metro area by midnight, roughly when repairs are expected to be complete.
