Police investigated a deadly wreck in Gwinnett County on Wednesday morning.

A Gainesville man was killed Wednesday morning after his vehicle was involved in a crash with a logging truck on I-985 North in Gwinnett County, authorities said.

About 7:30 a.m., police responded to the interstate near Buford Drive to find the two vehicles were involved in a rear-end crash, Gwinnett police said in a news release.

Keith Tumlin, 45, drove his Kia Sportage into the back of the truck, police said. The truck’s driver told officers that the wreck took place as he was getting back onto the interstate after pulling over on the shoulder to deal with an equipment issue.

Tumlin was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The deadly wreck forced authorities to close northbound travel on the interstate for more than an hour. Traffic started moving again just after 9 a.m.
