The first weekend of fall could be wet at times, which would be bad news for road construction crews as well as the tens of thousands of electronic dance music fans descending on south Fulton County for the TommorowWorld festival.

Here are the interstates you’ll want to avoid if the rain clears up:

Lots of Express Lanes construction planned

The Express Lanes project will shut down one lane of I-75 in each direction between Ga. 5 and Wade Green Road from 9 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday. Just south of there, one southbound lane of I-75 at the North Marietta Loop will be closed during the same hours.

One northbound lane of I-75 will be closed between the South Marietta Parkway and Ga. 5 exits from 6:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

One southbound lane of I-575 will be closed at Bells Ferry Road from 9 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday and again from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

On the other side of town, work on the South Metro Express Lanes will shut down two northbound lanes of I-75 between Ga. 155 and Ga. 138 from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

On I-285, two northbound lanes will be closed all weekend between Cascade Road and South Cobb Drive, while in that same area, two southbound lanes will be closed from I-20 to I-85.

One lane of I-285 will be closed in each direction from I-85 to Old National Highway all weekend for sign structure work.

In Douglas County, two lanes of I-20 will be shut down in each direction at Lee Road from 9 p.m. Friday through noon Sunday, and one westbound lane of I-20 will be closed at Fairburn Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Just west of downtown, two eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed all weekend from I-285 to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and two westbound lanes will be closed from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Hamilton E. Holmes Drive.

East of town, two eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed all weekend between Almon Road and U.S. 278.

Weekend roadwork on Ga. 400 will block one lane in each direction at Northridge Road from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday and one lane in each direction between Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Lenox Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Rain chance diminishing as weekend progresses

All of the scheduled roadwork is weather-permitting, and Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said there’s a 70 percent chance of rain Friday, diminishing a bit to 40 percent Saturday before dropping to 20 percent on Sunday.

High temperatures will be in the low 70s Saturday and mid-70s Sunday, Minton said, with morning lows in the 60s.
