Two multivehicle crashes were to blame for the massive delays drivers experienced Thursday morning on I-85 South, according to DeKalb County police.

Two tractor-trailers and at least six other vehicles were involved in the separate wrecks about 6:30 a.m. near the Pleasantdale Road exit, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. DeKalb police investigated one crash, while the Georgia State Patrol worked the other.

According to the DeKalb agency, only minor injuries were reported. No other information was available Thursday morning.

At one point, all but one right lane was blocked by the crash. The lanes began reopening at 8 a.m., and authorities cleared the scene just before 8:30 a.m., the Traffic Center reported.

The trip time between Ga. 316 and I-285 was more than two hours at the height of the backups.
