The driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned and dumped mulch on a Cherokee County road Monday morning was cited for failure to maintain lane, the sheriff’s office said.

Daniel Moses, 27, of Maysville, was traveling westbound on Cumming Highway toward Canton around 9:40 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, Lt. Jay Baker said. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor, Baker said.

The tractor-trailer landed on its side, spilling mulch on Cumming Highway, also known as Ga. 20, Baker said. The road was closed in both directions near the intersection with Holbrook Campground Road for about four hours.

The road reopened around 1:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office. Moses was not injured.
