Thanks to tips from the public, Atlanta police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for two bank robberies.

Caleb Griffin, 30, of Carrollton, was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of armed robbery, Fulton County jail records showed. Griffin was being held without bond Tuesday night.

The two robberies occurred on Feb. 14 and March 5, Major Adam Lee III said at a news conference Tuesday night at police headquarters. A Bank of America branch in Midtown and Georgia Primary Bank on Roswell Road were both targeted, and investigators believe the same person was responsible, Lee said.

In both robberies, the suspect had a weapon and threatened bank employees, Lee said. Investigators believe the suspect may have used a BB gun in one of the crimes.

“If you have the intestinal fortitude to walk into a bank and rob it these days, based on all the technology we have with cameras, officers able to get to these places within a matter of seconds, that shows a person really doesn’t care,” Lee said. “And if they don’t care, that makes them very dangerous.”

Lee said tips through Crime Stoppers Atlanta helped investigators identify Griffin as the suspect. The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
