North Georgia weather may feel like a song on repeat, but at least it’s one worth hearing again.
After another chilly start in the 30s and 40s Thursday, temperatures are again rising to the low 60s this afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News. And like all the days that have preceded it this week, there is no rain in the forecast Thursday.
“For your afternoon, nothing but sunshine once again,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
A projected high of 63 degrees in Atlanta is about average for this time of year, according to Channel 2.
Monahan said the clear, chilly starts and sunny, mild afternoons are thanks to an area of high pressure situated over North Georgia. The weather system has helped to keep the region dry and quiet this week, he said.
“That high is not going anywhere, he said. “Really dry air, that’s going to stay with us all the way through Saturday.”
There will be no weather issues Thursday, Friday or Saturday, according to Monahan. On Sunday, he expects cloud cover to increase ahead of a cold front arriving Monday, which will bring the next 20% chance of rain.
“There should not be any big trouble with that, but there will be a few showers around,” he said.
Those who find the weather a little too cool need only wait until the weekend. Afternoon temperature are expected to return to the low 70s Saturday, according to Channel 2.
Looking ahead to next week, Monahan said there is a chance of rain Wednesday and early next Thursday morning that could make things damp for Thanksgiving Day plans.
With nothing to dampen the drive Thursday morning, metro Atlanta interstates are starting out delay-free, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
“Smooth sailing as you circle the city on I-285,” traffic reporter Mark Arum said just before 6 a.m. “It will be a little different story this afternoon.”
On the Westside, Arum expects the I-285 outer loop headed to I-20 to jam up by 5 p.m. Things should recover by 7 p.m., he said.
