More clouds will develop Thursday to filter out the sunshine as humidity continues to build across North Georgia.

It may not feel that different outside Thursday, but Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said it will be slightly warmer, slightly more muggy and decidedly less like fall. Eventually, these incremental changes in humidity will result in rain chances this weekend, Monahan said.

“Maybe you’ve already noticed that humidity climb just a bit,” he said. “If you haven’t, you’re really going to notice it by the weekend. We’re still going to be mainly dry all the way through Saturday.”

There is no rain in the forecast Thursday, according to Channel 2. While showers to the west of the state are moving this way, Monahan said they are far enough away that they will not impact North Georgia’s weather.

“Ahead of that, though, you are going to notice more clouds,” he said. “A little less blue sky, a little more cloud cover through your Thursday afternoon. We get up into the mid-80s in Atlanta.”

The projected high for the city is 86 degrees, six degrees above average for this time of year. Temperatures are already in the upper 60s Thursday morning for a warm start to the day.

With those numbers, Monahan said it will feel more like North Georgia wound the clock back to early September. Weather that actually feels like fall is coming, but it won’t arrive for quite some time, he said.

Temperatures will still be in the 80s at first pitch for the Braves final game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park. Monahan expects 70s for most of the game, and it will stay dry.

The weekend will be a different story, he said. Rain returns to the forecast Saturday with a 10% chance of a shower, and showers are 30% likely Sunday, according to Channel 2.
