In a short series of tweets, Sen. Raphael Warnock said he’s praying for Tyre Nichols’ family and Memphis, Tennessee.

He called for peaceful protest following Nichols deadly encounter with five police officers in Memphis. Warnock added that lawmakers have work to do in order to prevent these incidents from continuing to take place.

“And, may we never stop working until we transform the culture of bias and brutality, and pass the kind of legislation that is necessary to keep all of our communities safe,” he tweeted.
