5 things to know today: Pence used private email to conduct state business

1. Pence used a private email to conduct state business. Vice President Mike Pence used a private email account to conduct public business as Indiana's governor, according to public records obtained by the Indianapolis Star. The newspaper reported Thursday emails provided through a public records request show Pence communicated with advisers through his personal AOL account on homeland security matters and security at the governor's residence during his four years as governor. [Read here] 

2. Old Georgia Archives building to be imploded Sunday. The state will implode the old Georgia Archives building in the shadow of the Capitol at about 7 a.m. on Sunday, and Gov. Nathan Deal will be there to watch. The old archives building will make way for a state courts building. [Read here] 

3. I-285 lanes to close Friday for investigation of crash that killed 3. DeKalb County police said they'll shut down "sections" of I-285 on Friday morning to investigate a crash that killed three people. The closures are set to start at 10 a.m. and last three or four hours on the eastbound side of the road before the Moreland Avenue ramp. [Read here] 

4. Man accused of impersonating cop. A man is in jail after he impersonated a police officer and made a traffic stop using a blue light he attached to his car's visor, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said. A witness saw the "suspicious traffic stop" Thursday night at Ga. 92 and Bells Ferry Road, followed the man to the Waldan Pond Apartments and called authorities, Cherokee sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker said. Deputies found the man at the apartment complex. [Read here] 

5. Freeze warning issued for most of North Georgia. Take a jacket to work or school. It's cold in metro Atlanta, and a freeze warning has been issued for most of North Georgia, according to the National Weather Service. [Read here]
