Q: In regards to the question you answered about Georgia driver’s licenses being issued for eight years: My wife and I just received, a month or so ago, a five-year license. Would I be able to exchange my five-year license for an eight-year license?
—William Mallory, Dallas
A: Customers older than 59 were limited to a five-year license prior to the passage of House Bill 806 earlier this year.
That extended the life of a Georgia driver’s license – in most cases — to eight years, regardless of age.
Drivers who renewed before the “implementation of the new legislation” will have to wait for their five-year license to expire to receive an eight-year license, a Department of Driver Services spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.
Q: Can someone tell me when and why the Cracker Barrel at 4540 Jonesboro Road closed?
—Ray Hawkins, Jonesboro
A: The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store at that location was 27 years old when it closed in 2010.
It was replaced by a new Cracker Barrel about 4 miles away at 7995 Senoia Road in Fairburn.
“This was one of our older stores that needed significant renovations and repairs,” a company spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email. “Many times with older stores like this one … we find it makes more sense to rebuild than to continue maintaining them.”
