Q: Why does Clayton County have graduation ceremonies 10 times over a two-day period? Do all students have to be present at all the ceremonies or do you just pick one to go to?

—Joseph Rhone, Jonesboro

A: Each ceremony is set for each graduating class of 10 of Clayton County Public Schools' 11 high schools.

Five are scheduled for May 23 and the other five will be held on May 24 at the Georgia Dome.

For example, North Clayton High School’s ceremony is set for 9 a.m. March 23, followed by Mundy’s Mill High School’s ceremony at 11:45 a.m.

“We work in advance to coordinate a schedule for each graduating class to ensure a seamless process for all stakeholders,” a Clayton County Public Schools spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email. “The two-day process is not held to inconvenience, but rather to accommodate and provide a memorable experience for students, staff and the community at-large.”

The complete schedule is at www.clayton.k12.ga.us/graduation.

Q: The live performance of “The Passion” was wonderful. Were there any contingency plans if the weather did not cooperate?

—Kathy McDonough, Peachtree Corners

A: "The Passion," a live musical televised by Fox on March 20, would have continued "rain or shine," executive producer Mark Bracco told the media two days before the show.

“The Passion” was shot in New Orleans, which experienced “unseasonably cool temperatures and comfortable 49 percent humidity,” NOLA.com wrote.

Variety reported that “hundreds” of clear umbrellas were bought, in case it rained.
