A: Casualty details regarding the April 6 targeted U.S. strike on Syria's Shayrat air base remained sketchy, according to a CNN report.

“Syrian state-run media reported that the strike killed nine people, including four children. Five people were killed in one village near the air base, and four other people died in an another village, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency said,” CNN reported April 7, following the missile strike on the base where the U.S. says the warplanes that had launched a chemical attack on Syrian citizens originated.

The U.S. missile attack targeted aircraft, ammunition, aircraft shelters, air defense systems and radars. The U.S. reported afterward that 58 of the 59 Tomahawk missiles had met their targets.

Earlier, the Syrian government had reported six casualties.

Q: WSB Radio’s Scott Slade’s Sunday morning news recap program has been gone since the General Assembly began. Now he’s often absent from the daily morning newscast. Is he cutting back, or is there some other reason for his absences?

—Dick Donovan, Dallas

A: Slade, who was on vacation the week of April 3, told Q&A on the News that he is not cutting back his normal weekday hours on Newstalk WSB Radio.

“I hosted Georgia Public Broadcasting’s ‘Lawmakers’ program during the latest session of the Georgia General Assembly, so between that and my morning radio job, the time off was welcome,” wrote Slade, the host of Atlanta’s Morning News.

He added that Monica Matthews is the new host of the 8-9 a.m. Sunday slot; her show is “Faith, Life & Politics.”
