Q: How many animals were adopted and from where were they adopted during the recent Furkids/Zappos adoption weekend?

A: More than 750 were animals adopted from Atlanta-area shelters and agencies during the "Home for the Pawlidayz" event, which was sponsored by Zappos, an online shoes and clothes retailer, in partnership with the Best Friends Animal Society.
Here’s the breakdown, according to numbers provided by a spokeswoman for Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters:

- Georgia SPCA — 60
- PAWS Atlanta — 60
- Good Mews Animal Foundation — 26
Zappos covers the cost of the adoptions during the special, which ran from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.
There were 6,285 adoptions and $1.1 million was contributed in 2015, Zappos states on its website (zappos.com).
Q: In a recent AJC, you answered a question about the final popular vote totals for the presidential election. You replied that Hillary Clinton had 64.8 million votes to Donald Trump’s 62.5 million. Of those votes, how many were from California and New York?

A: Clinton received about 4.2 million votes in New York (58.3 percent) to 2.6 million for Trump (37.1 percent).
In California, Clinton received 8.3 million votes (62.1 percent) to Trump’s 4.4 million (32.1).
The vote totals are through Nov. 27 as reported by The Cook Political Report (cookpolitical.com).
