A teenager is recovering after being shot Sunday afternoon while playing basketball outside a southwest Atlanta elementary school.
The shooting happened about 2:30 p.m. at Perkerson Elementary School on Brewer Boulevard.
According to Atlanta police, the 17-yer-old victim, whose name has not been released, told investigators that he was playing basketball when he was approached by three unknown males with their faces covered.
After a brief conversation, “one of the suspects pulled out a small pistol,” Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said. “The suspect fired one time, striking the victim in the right torso area.”
The suspects then fled toward Oana Street, according to police, who searched the area for the suspects without success.
