Perry Aubuchon, shown in this booking photo from March, was arrested on 43 charges in connection with a fire at a Roswell apartment complex.

The suspect accused of setting fire to a Roswell apartment building last week has been arrested.

Perry Aubuchon is being held in the Fulton County Jail on 43 charges, including first-degree arson and aggravated assault, in connection with the Thursday morning fire at the Creekside at Holcomb Bridge Apartments.

According to authorities, 19 families were forced to evacuate when the 10 building went up in flames shortly after midnight Thursday. Everyone made it out before fire crews arrived, and no one was injured, Roswell fire officials said.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set after Aubuchon got into an argument with some residents in a breezeway.

“At one point in the dispute while still in the breezeway, he yelled a threat and then used a suspected ignitable fluid in an incendiary manner, causing the structure to ignite into fire,” police said in the lookout.

Aubuchon was arrested on 10 counts of arson, 17 counts of aggravated assault, 10 counts of criminal damage to property, four counts of cruelty to children and two counts of cruelty to animals.

It is not the first time he has run afoul of the law.

“Perry Aubuchon is known to be homeless in the area, a known drug user, and has an extensive criminal background to include obstruction of law enforcement officers,” police said.

In 2018, he was arrested twice in Fulton County on charges of disorderly conduct and theft by taking. He was arrested again in May 2019 on failure to appear for the theft by taking charge.

Aubuchon also has arrests on various charges dating to 2014 in Gwinnett County, online jail records show. Police did not release any details on his arrest in the arson case.
