The Georgia Department of Public Health is working with schools and school districts to follow up in pulling all Blue Bell products from schools in the region. Many school districts already pulled these products immediately upon hearing of the recall.

Blue Bell, known for its ice cream, recalled all of its products earlier this month due to an outbreak of listeria that investigators linked to several sicknesses and at least five deaths.

Georgia health inspectors are in contact with school nutrition and food managers, and performing physical checks during scheduled food service inspections at schools, to ensure all of these products are no longer served.
