It should be a great weekend to get outdoors in metro Atlanta as the summer heat continues and the rain holds off.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to remain relatively dry with temperatures reaching at least 90 degrees on both days, according to the latest forecast.

That should make for ideal conditions for an afternoon trip to the pool or lake.

Saturday morning started off with temperatures in the low 70s, but it’s expected to reach 92 degrees this afternoon,, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

While some areas of North Georgia could see an isolated shower or two after lunch, the chance of rain is relatively low at just 20%, she said.

“Any outdoor activities you have planned are looking pretty good,” Deon said. “You can’t rule out a stray shower or storm, but most areas are going to stay dry.”

As Georgia Department of Transportation crews take advantage of the dry weekend, several lane closures are expected across metro Atlanta.

Drivers will see overnight delays on I-85 as crews work to repair the bridge at Piedmont Road. And in Cobb County, motorists on I-75 can expect late night delays at Barrett Parkway as construction continues there.

The chance of stays at 20% on Sunday ahead of a wet start to the work week. A cold front is expected to move into metro Atlanta on Monday, bringing with it a 40% of afternoon showers. Isolated storms could linger through midweek, but temperatures aren’t expected to reach the 90s again until at least Thursday.
