Saturday might be cloudy, but that should do little to put a damper on a pleasant weekend characterized by unseasonably warm temperatures.

“The weekend is upon us and we’re going to have some nice weather,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “A little more cloud cover this weekend than we’ve seen during the week but, all in all, pretty nice.”

Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected all weekend, with highs near 80 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.

The low temperature Saturday morning is a mild 55 degrees, and the day should warm up quite a bit, with an afternoon high near 80 degrees. A 10% chance of rain is likely to be isolated north of the metro Atlanta area, if there’s any precipitation.

After Saturday’s sunset at 6:44 p.m., the clock will spring forward for daylight savings time, taking Sunday’s sunset to 7:44 p.m. “The time change will technically take place at 2 a.m. Sunday morning,” Nitz said. “Always takes a little while to get used to.”

Sunday’s weather will bring more of the same high temperatures and mild weather, but rain will return during the workweek. Nitz is predicting a front to move in on Monday, lowering the temperature about 10 degrees and bringing rain that could hang around through Tuesday and Wednesday.

With good weather comes construction, and there will be some traffic shifts this weekend as crews make progress on the Transform 285/400 project. Traffic pacing and some stoppages will be enforced on the Perimeter area while construction crews perform controlled blasting of rock around the interchange.

Roadwork on I-75 will also cause a traffic shift for users of the I-75 and I-575 express lanes. The lanes will only be open for southbound travel over the course of this weekend. They will shift back to northbound travel around midday on Monday, following the normal workweek pattern.
