Help for a public safety officer and his wife whose baby was born with severe medical issues due to oxygen starvation. A financial boost for an officer's spouse fighting for her life after being diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Aiding the family friend of still another officer who was badly injured in a hiking fall.
The Sandy Springs Police Benevolent Fund has helped in all those recent cases-and now seeks the public's help with its fall fundraiser from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at a private residence. Tickets are $100 a person and this year's event will feature raffles, music, a live and silent auction, music and food.
Fund officials said that since 2014, the group has provided some $27,000 in assistance to public safety families in times of need and across multiple jurisdictions. In addition, group fundraising has provided an additional life insurance policy for all Sandy Springs police officers.
