Investigators have not yet determined the cause of a Thursday morning fire that forced residents to jump from their balconies at a College Park apartment complex.

Several fire crews remained at the Central Park apartments on Camp Creek Road late Thursday afternoon battling remaining hot spots, EMS Director Ron Taylor told the AJC.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which displaced 15 families, according to officials. The Red Cross was assisting 29 people after their homes were destroyed or damaged.

Firefighters on the scene were using a MARTA bus as a warming station, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“The weather is always a concern simply because of the conditions the firefighters are working under,” Taylor said.

Water used to fight the fire became high due to the cold temperatures, Taylor said.

Investigators hope to determine the cause of the fire in coming days.
