Two men have been found guilty of burglarizing the home of an Indian couple in east Cobb three years ago.

Freddy Cuero, 41, of Morrow, and Angel Luis Maxam, 34, of Lawrenceville, were found guilty Wednesday afternoon and each of them were sentenced Thursday morning to 20 years, with five years to serve, for their roles in burglarizing the home on July 14, 2011, according to Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds in an email.

Authorities said the men, along with a third man who already pleaded guilty, targeted the Indian homeowners because of their culture.

After breaking through two glass doors on the back of the house and hearing a security alarm, the men fled in a vehicle driven by Cuero, but were soon stopped for a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle found, among other items, gloves, screwdrivers, window punches, currency from Bangladesh, jewelry and a gold-weight conversion chart.
