Nearly four hours after an accident involving a FedEx truck and a police vehicle closed Interstate 85 southbound at Highway 211, officials reopened all lanes.
About 7:20 a.m. Friday, the FedEx tractor-trailer was traveling southbound near mile marker 127 when it struck a Braselton Police Department patrol car that was on a traffic stop, Tracey Watson with the Georgia State Patrol said in an emailed statement.
“The officer was outside of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries,” Watson said. “The tractor-trailer overturned off the roadway and the driver was entrapped.”
Just before 9 a.m., Dakin said emergency officials were able to get the trapped driver out of the tractor-trailer. The patient was flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.
