Cobb County investigators need the public’s help to identify human remains found in September near I-75, police said Friday. But there are very few clues to the person’s identity or gender.

On Sept. 3, a survey crew found the remains in a wooded area near Cumberland Boulevard and I-75, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb police.

Detectives believe the bones may have been there for an extended period of time, Pierce said. But parts of the skeleton needed to determine gender or age were not found, he said.

“Additionally, the manner and cause of death could not be determined,” Pierce said in an emailed statement.

A beaded necklace and small items from clothing were located in the area, and investigators are hopeful someone may recognize them.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Cobb police at 770-499-3945.
