Your weekend outdoor plans should include rain gear.

The forecast for metro Atlanta Saturday calls for clouds, chilly weather and a 90 percent chance of rain in the early afternoon and evening, according to David Chandley, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist. North Georgia could experience periods of heavy rain Saturday night after 9 p.m.

Metro Atlanta is expected to see highs in the mid-50s.

Rain also is likely Sunday morning, but it is expected to taper off by the afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday, Chandley said. “While rainfall totals won’t be extremely high — 1 to 2 inches — the ground is very saturated, and with creeks, streams and rivers running above normal, some minor flooding will occur,” he said.

Lows are expected to be in the mid-30s Saturday and in the mid-40s Sunday, Chandley said.

Events in downtown Atlanta this weekend include the Falcons vs. Panthers game at the Georgia Dome. Looking ahead, the Chick-fil-A Bowl Parade and game are scheduled for Tuesday.
