Forest Park police are seeking the public’s help to catch a man who robbed a flower shop and severely beat the shop owner.

The robbery happened around 10 a.m. Saturday at Red and Gold Florist, 4827 College Street.

A customer called police after finding the 73-year-old shop owner lying on a sofa severely beaten in the head and face.

The owner told police that shortly after she opened for the day, a slender black male in his early 20s came in the store brandishing a knife and demanding money. She said she gave the man about $40, which was all the cash she had in the drawer, but he demanded more. When she told him she had no more money, he struck her in the face, then fled the store.

Authorities ask that anyone who can help identify the suspect or offer any information regarding this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Tipster may be eligible for a reward.
