Cobb County police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked an employee during his second shoplifting attempt at the store.
According to a Cobb police news release, the man twice this month tried to steal car batteries and tools from the Kmart on Mableton Parkway. In both instances, he was stopped by the store’s loss prevention staff.
In his first attempt on Oct. 5, police said, he was verbally aggressive toward the loss prevention associate, but in the second, which took place Oct. 14, he attacked the female loss prevention officer after she identified herself, punching her in the face several times.
The man was reported to be about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and bald, with a slight beard having some white or gray in it. His teeth are in bad shape and he walks with a limp, police added.
A different vehicle was driven by the man during each incident. In the first, he was in a burgundy SUV, possibly a Mountaineer; in the second, he drove a newer, off-white Lincoln four-door sedan missing its right front hubcap.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Detective W.H. Stephens at 770-499-4477.
