An Atlanta man was shot Sunday by an unidentified person following him in a vehicle.

Police said the man reported he was walking on Murphy Avenue SW when he realized he was being followed by a newer model black Ford Taurus. He told police that while trying to run away, he heard several gunshots and was hit by a bullet, causing him to fall. The car then drove past him, he said.

He said he got up and ran to a friend’s house in the 1000 block of Sparks Street SW, where he was found bleeding on the couch when police arrived. The friend told police the man arrived at his home screaming “I’m shot” repeatedly. The friend applied pressure to the wound while another resident of the home called police.

Police said the wounded man could not say who shot him, stating, “there has been a lot happening in the neighborhood,” and they were unable to locate a crime scene.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
