It’s a fluid situation, to be sure, but road maintenance and construction could be slowed considerably in Georgia this summer if the federal government fails to address the rapidly evaporating highway trust fund and a new transportation bill. Today, we present comments from Keith Golden, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Transportation, made at a recent AJC editorial board meeting. The Georgia Public Policy Foundation, a free-market think tank, also offers its view on the funding roadblock.
