Rick Badie joined The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an education reporter in 1997. A South Georgia native, he’s covered the region’s immigrant communities, was a feature obituary writer and opinion columnist for the AJC’s Gwinnett edition.

The Global Cities Initiative is a joint project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Its goal: Help political and business leaders of metropolitan hubs strengthen their economies via the global market. Atlanta, which wants to expand its global reach, is one of the cities partaking in the project. Today’s writers explain what that entails for the city and the Southeast.
