Dear Readers:
I want to let you know about changes coming Friday, January 1 to the Opinion section of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and myAJC.com.
We’re taking the next steps in tailoring for the digital age the marketplace of ideas you’ve come to expect from us. Bringing metro Atlantans thought-provoking opinion articles that address issues of regional interest remains an important mission for us. Toward that end, starting this Friday, these Atlanta Forward-themed op-eds will be published in digital form on our premium subscriber website, myAJC.com. Using the online platform you’ve come to embrace lets us bring you content faster than before.
This move to bring you important insights, context and opinion even faster online necessitates some other changes.
The print version of Maureen Downey’s popular “Get Schooled” education column will be moving to the cover of the Monday AJC Metro section. This will provide even greater visibility for Maureen’s nationally recognized expertise. The additional education op-eds we’ve long showcased will also appear online, at myAJC.com.
These changes will not affect the “Balanced Views” Opinion page in your newspaper. It will continue to appear daily. And it will have your favorite local and national columnists voicing opinions from both sides of the ideological aisle. You’ve told us that it’s important to you to see opinions both conservative and liberal, and our commitment to doing that every day remains unchanged – as does our lineup of columnists left and right alike. This page will continue to feature a conservative “From the Right” editorial cartoon alongside the work of our own Mike Luckovich.
On Sundays, the AJC will continue to bring you three full pages of opinion and insights. This includes a Sunday editorial page, offering our institutional viewpoint, paired with other views. Sunday’s familiar roster of local and national columnists is unchanged, along with the weekly column by AJC editors offering an insiders’ view into news of the day and how we cover it.
As always, thank you for your support of the AJC.
