The Lancaster County homeowner was asleep when he was awakened by a loud crash, WGAL reported. It was the sound of a septic tanker, which overturned and landed in his swimming pool, dumping the sewage into the water.

State police officials said the incident occurred in Conestoga Township. Traffic had been diverted because of an accident involving an overturned propane truck, and the septic tank driver was unable to negotiate a turn, WGAL reported.

The septic truck crashed through a fence before landing in the pool, the television station reported. The driver was not hurt.

Conestoga Volunteer Fire Company Chief Larry Frankford said "you can just use your imagination" about the smell that was caused by the combination of human sewage and diesel oil that spilled out of the truck, Fox News reported.
