Investigators believe a woman fired a gun during a late night shooting incident Sunday near Norcross that left one man dead and another wounded, police said.

Tevin Saffo, 21, was killed and 21-year-old Tyler Reeves was critically injured following the incident that happened about 10:30 p.m. at the Bristol Court Apartments on Westchase Village Lane, according to Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.

Talon Dunkentell, 28, also suffered minor injuries during the incident, but was charged with aggravated assault and obstruction after she was released from the hospital, Smith said.

"Detectives have probable cause to believe that she fired a gun during the course of the incident; the exact role she played is still under investigation," Smith said.

Officers dispatched to a person shot call found Saffo dead at the scene, police said

Reeves was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition, and Dunkentell was treated at the scene for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Gwinnett County police spokesman Jeffery Richter said.

"Early reports indicate there was some type of altercation in one of the apartments," Richter said early Monday. "However, the exact details surrounding the events leading up to the shooting are still under investigation at this time."

Detectives also are investigating what role drugs and drug paraphernalia found at the scene played in the shooting, Smith said.

Dunkentell is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on $1,300 bond, according to jail records.

The investigation is ongoing.
