The owner of a Cherokee County medical facility that authorities allege was operating as a pill mill is being held on a nearly quarter-million dollar bond after his arrest Monday on 18 felony charges that include possession of Hydrocodone and Xanax.

Agents with the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad seized more than $10,000 in cash, a handgun and several pre-signed blank prescriptions during Monday’s search of Atlas Healthcare and Rehab on Bells Ferry Road near Acworth, according to Cherokee County sheriff’s Lt. Jay Baker.

Baker said the owner of the clinic, Tom Hourin, 41, of Woodstock, was arrested and is being held on a bond of $224,680.

Dr. Kelvin White, 54, was arrested at his home in Fayetteville and is expected to be taken to Cherokee County later Tuesday to face the same charges, which Baker said also include unlawful use of a blank prescription and failing to keep drugs in original containers.

Baker said more arrests are expected.
