Gerald Wilkins Sr., 62, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully in his home on January 7, 2021.
He was born on March 15, 1958 in San Francisco, California and was the son of the late Andrew and Vivian Wilkins.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Margaret Wilkins.
Gerald was born and raised by the water in San Francisco, California, graduating from San Francisco State University and earning his MBA from Stanford University. Over the next 35 years, he held finance positions at AT&T, GE, KFC, AFC Enterprises, and Habitat for Humanity. He served on the boards of Zoo Atlanta, The Lovett School, AFC and Global Payments. He ended his career working for himself as President of his own financial consulting company, WJG Consulting Inc.
Mr. Wilkins was a private man, who valued hard work, yet also made sure to make time for family, friends, and fun. Gerald never missed a wedding anniversary, soccer game, or school play, and every year he made sure to make it back to the ocean, whether by cruise, plane, or road trip to the beach. Gerald loved to travel the world with his wife and kids, and also enjoyed watching sports, running, and listening to his favorite artists in concert. He was a humble man, who found the most joy in life's simplest pleasures: Reading a novel on his front porch, the sound of the ocean waves, the smiles on his children's faces were just a few. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 33 years, Denise Wilkins, and his four children, Gerald Wilkins Jr., Felicia Wilkins, Vanessa Wilkins and Robert Wilkins.
He is also survived by his granddaughter, Mariyah Wilkins, and siblings Patricia Dangerfield, Cheryl Wilkins and Robert Wilkins along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A private memorial for his immediate family was held for Mr. Wilkins on January 7, 2021 at Leaf Cremation. Gerald was an avid believer in higher education. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a minority scholarship fund at your favorite educational institution.
