SCHLOESSLIN, Milton
Edward
Milton Schloesslin, 91 passed away December 29, 2020 at Emory Hospital in John's Creek, GA.
He was born June 11, 1929 in Pittsburgh PA., to the late Edward Schloesslin and Esther Zang.
Shortly after graduation from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, he served for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Upon returning from Korea, he met and married the late Helen Dugan on November 28th 1953. They would go on to raise five children and be blessed with four grandchildren.
Milton would then embark on a long career of more than forty-five years in the steel industry in Pittsburgh. He started as a millworker in a steel mill, along the way would earn his engineering degree, work his way into management and would end his career in 1994 as the Chief Corporate Engineer for the Union Electric Steel Corporation in Burgettstown, PA. He would then spend another nine years as a consultant to Union Electric. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and in 2005 relocated to Georgia to be closer to several of them. The tenants of life that Milton held most sacred were his family, his faith in God, and his service to his country. One of his most well- known quotes he would often repeat when reflecting upon his life on earth was "I served my country, served my Lord and married a great woman who gave me five wonderful children, who in turn gave me four beautiful grandchildren. What more could I ask for?" He would also want it to be known that he will eternally be a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In his final years Milton's goals were much simpler. He'd say "each day I wake up, I thank God for another day to be there for my kids and grandkids. Beyond that, BRING IT ON". He also had a personal goal to outlive Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman, two of his favorite actors. He didn't quite achieve that goal. Nonetheless, a life well lived indeed.
In addition to his parents, Milton, was preceded in death by his sisters Lois Lenz and Vera Goldizen.
His survivors include son Mark Schloesslin and wife Jean of Golden, CO., daughter Cynthia Singer and husband Chuck of Bolivar, PA., son William Schloesslin of Phoenix, AZ., daughter Karen Kosol and husband Mike of Alpharetta, GA., son Edward Schloesslin and fiancé Mellody Young of Kennesaw, GA., brother William Schloesslin and wife Elsie of Denver, CO; granddaughter Christie Smith and husband Travis, grandson Eric Kosol-Smith and wife Amanda, grandson Kevin Kosol, grandson Grant Schloesslin and numerous nieces and nephews.
