RAY (RENFROE), Frances

Frances Renfroe Ray passed away Sunday, December 20th after a short illness. She was 96 years old. She was predeceased by her parents Zackie and Eva Renfroe, her sister Helen Bloodworth and her husband George D. Ray, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Robert and Allan (Nancy), her daughter, Nancy, 5 grandchildren, and nephew, William G. Bloodworth of Cary, NC.

Frances was born in Sandersville, Georgia. She attained a two-year business degree from The Women's Business School in Milledgeville, and married George in 1947. They moved to Atlanta and raised their family in the Garden Hills section of Buckhead. As President and CEO of Southern Mills, INC. George relied on Frances to help him represent Southern Mills all over the world. She was a perfect hostess and a wonderful cook. She was a member of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church and an excellent bridge player. She was also a member of several garden clubs in Buckhead, and the Cherokee Town & Country Club. She was an active parent at Garden Hills Elementary School. She was the epitome of a southern lady. Her ashes will be buried at the Ray Family Cemetery in Hancock County, Georgia.

Due to the Covid pandemic, there will be no service. Donations in Frances' memory may be made to Second- Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.
