MCGARR, Kenneth Peter
Age 84, passed on October 21, 2021 with his family by his side. Peter was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on June 11, 1937 to his parents James Edward and Margaret McGarr. In 1955, he graduated from Towanda High School in Pennsylvania. During his first semester at Notre Dame his parents were tragically killed in a plane crash, which greatly affected him throughout his life. As he tried to put the pieces back together, he decided to join the Navy. During his service, he took a chance and went on a blind date. Luckily he met the woman of his dreams, Delores Franco. During the next few years, Peter and Del's relationship blossomed. He went back to college at Boston College and Merrimack College where he received his Bachelor's Degree. In 1958, Peter and Del made it official and decided to start the family. In 1968, the McGarr family moved to Stone Mountain where Peter started his own business in 1973 and became a successful Manufacturer's Rep in Lighting. He was one of the industry's leading sales Reps because he knew how to relate to people. He would disarm you with his charm while simultaneously being provocative; a rare quality that was honed to perfection. Peter also had a passion for golf and playing cards with the boys in the clubhouse. Peter is survived by his wife, Delores F. McGarr and daughters, Elisabeth Maria McGarr and Patricia Margaret McGarr. Siblings are Steve McGarr and Jane Perkins. Visitation will be at Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory located at, 6101 Lawrenceville Hwy., Tucker, GA 30084 on November 2 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Services will be at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church located at 5373 Wydella Rd., Lilburn, GA 30047 on November 3 starting at 10:30 AM. Mass will begin at 11 AM followed by burial at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens located at 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy., Snellville, GA 30039.
