HILL, Edward Anthony

August 19, 1973- November 4, 2021

Edward Anthony Hill, born August 19, 1973, died peacefully at his home away from home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida surrounded by his family on November 4, 2021. A life-long native of Atlanta, he attended Kents Hill School in Maine and received a B.A. degree from Emory & Henry College where he majored in Political Science and International Relations.

His charming charismatic personality, striking good looks, and witty personality were captivating. He never knew a stranger and everyone who knew him loved him. Edward was passionate about good food, travel, his family, and his many friends. Edward worked in the Installations & Exhibitions department of the High Museum of Art for twenty years fueling his love of art and photography. Additionally, he did freelance installation work for art galleries across the southeast and was respected for his keen eye, professionalism, and engaging personality.

A talented chef, Edward was happiest preparing meals for his friends and family. His fondest memories were traveling with his father and exploring restaurants, from 5-star establishments to roadside diners. He was an avid cyclist, and he enjoyed skiing, camping, and especially being on the water in Florida. A trait he inherited from his parents and grandparents, Edward was an accomplished gardener and plantsman. Conversant in Latin horticultural nomenclature, he could make most anything grow and flourish.

Edward was a devoted uncle. He fiercely loved his niece and nephew more than anything and took great pride in their accomplishments. He was the most loving friend, brother, and son anyone could ever hope to have. His humorous antics kept everyone on their toes, and his more serious loyalty was a comfort to his friends. Edward's irreverent humor was how he embraced life to its fullest, always finding a reason to laugh in any situation. A founding member of the GBC of Atlanta, the friends he had over the years from the cycling community were truly a second family to him and an incredibly important part of his life. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Preceded in death by his father Benjamin Anthony Hill, he is survived by his mother, Marian Weldon Hill, sister Audrey Hill Makepeace (William), and his beloved niece and nephew Morgan McMenamy and Murphy McMenamy.

A private service is planned at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to The Do Good Fund, a nonprofit celebrating and sharing the importance of post World War II photographs of the American South. The Do Good Fund, PO Box 1199, Columbus, GA 31902.
