CLARY, William Milton

William "Bill" died September 7th having celebrated his 95th birthday on August 23rd. He was predeceased by his wife Sue in 2020.

Bill was born in Wilkes county in Metasville, Georgia. He grew up on a farm with his grandparents, brother Wallace and mother Lessie Maude. His father Marvin Clary owned the Ford dealership and died in a car crash when Bill was 18 months old. Bill served in World War II in the Navy where he was in action in the Pacific. Bill went to the University of Georgia on the ROTC scholarship and graduated in Business Administration.

His first job was with GMAC and he joined the Airforce reserves. Bill was called up in the Korean War to Puerto Rico where he served as a Major. While in Puerto Rico he met lifelong friends Olin and Bill Barnes who encouraged him into going into the furniture manufacturer's representative business. Bill thrived in the furniture business where he represented many lines calling on furniture stores all over the Southeast. He loved the business and made many dear friends.

He married Sue James Clary in 1954 and they had two children Margaret and Marvin. When Bill was not traveling for business he loved to go to the Athens Boat Club and later to his home in Saint Simons Island. In retirement he and Sue bought a home in Highlands and a condo in Vail. They enjoyed travel and traveled all over the world. Beagle dogs were a favorite and they always had a Beagle in tow. Bill had a lifelong love of cars old and new.

He is survived by his daughter Margaret Clary Bosbyshell of Saint Simons Island, his son William Marvin Clary of Atlanta, his granddaughter Clary Bosbyshell Welsh of Atlanta, grandson William Milton Clary II of Denver and two great-grandchildren Rayfe William Froeba and Margaux Graham Welsh of Atlanta.

A family memorial service will be held in the Memorial Garden at the Cathedral of St Philip. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the maintenance of the grounds, landscape of the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305.
