Bill Brooker, 82, of Peachtree Corners, GA; passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
Bill was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on January 18, 1939. An incredible athlete from an early age, Bill scored the first 1000 points on the Basketball court of Waynesboro High School and went on the receive 15 out of 16 High School letters in Basketball, Football, Baseball and Track. A Basketball Scholarship took him to University of Delaware; he ultimately received his BS from what is now VCU. He made Atlanta his home in 1968 and became a beloved member of his new community: playing softball with the Beer Mug, Aunt Charley's, and moving on to the Senior Circuit, playing for the Georgia Peaches, traveling the country winning numerous championships. Bill played ALTA and USTA for the majority of his adult life, as well. He is well known for his top spin lob and wicked drop shot. Professionally, Bill also excelled, being Salesman of the year frequently, founding several professional organizations, and winning multiple awards for his achievements throughout his career.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 35 years, his 4 children: Karyn Bell, Trip Brooker, Pat Thompson, and Lisa Amorose, as well as his younger sister Dana Mitchell. Bill was a man who cherished his family, and he will be especially missed by his grandchildren: Leah, Julia, Marissa, Emily and Will.
Bill Brooker lived a life full of friends, family, love and more laughter than anyone can imagine. We will be celebrating his extraordinary life on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Service to begin at 2 PM at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home in Peachtree Corners, Ga. If preferred, make a donation in Bills name to The V Foundation for Cancer Research or Wounded Worriers Project.
