A Cobb County man was in critical condition Monday afternoon after being shot by officers at an Atlanta Road mobile home park. But it was the injured man who first fired shots at officers, according to Cobb police.
Officers were called shortly after midnight to the Hillcrest Plaza Mobile Home Park on a complaint of loud music, Officer Alicia Chilton said. When they spoke to the man on one of the lots, he went inside the trailer, got a gun and threatened to shoot officers, Chilton said in an emailed statement.
“When officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect to get him out of the home, he began to shoot at them,” Chilton said. “Officers returned fire, and the suspect was struck.”
The man, Brian Thomas Ohlmann, 37, of Marietta, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Monday afternoon. No officers were injured.
Ohlmann has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and possession of a firearm during a felony, police said.
The shooting remains under investigation.
