A woman in her 70s who was on her way to a funeral died in a crash on State Route 3 in Bremerton, Washington, on Tuesday.

According to officials with the Bremerton Fire Department, the woman, who has not been identified by authorities publicly, was the only one in the car and may have had a medical incident. Three vehicles were involved in the crash.

One of the cars that was behind the victim’s vehicle was occupied by the woman's family members. They witnessed the crash and were also on their way to the same funeral, according to fire department officials.

The family was not involved in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Around noon, Bremerton police said, a second crash occurred in the area, causing major backups. At 12:30 p.m. local time, police closed the road where the second crash happened while officers investigate.
