Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged David Ezequel Lopez, as a second suspect, in connection with the murders of Jonathan Alvarado, Jusmar Isiah Gonzaga-Garcia, and Mirjana Puhar, a former “America’s Top Model” contestant.

Earlier Thursday evening, Lopez voluntarily came to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives, police said.

Lopez was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and is in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Emmanuel Rangel was also charged with the homicides.

The case is drug-related, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
