Police say a 12-year-old French boy made up a story about being abducted just to avoid the dentist.
According to Midi Libra (French language), the boy told police he was on his way to the dentist when a muscular, 5-foot-6 man in his 30s with a scar on his cheek threw him into a car.
The boy said he got away when the bad guy made a stop.
Cops in the village of St. Gervais bought the story and began looking for the suspect.
A month later, authorities took a look at surveillance tapes from the area and found no evidence of an abduction.
When the boy was asked again, he 'fessed up to the lie telling them he made up the story because he was afraid of the dentist, according to reports.
