Beant Kaur Dhillon, 43, was arrested Tuesday on charges of murder and willful cruelty to a child, KGET-TV reported. The arrest came after police reportedly unearthed a body in the backyard of the Bakersfield house Dhillon owns.

A county website listed Dhillon as the owner of the house in question, according to the news station.

Detectives on the scene wouldn’t comment on the investigation to KGET-TV, but pictures taken by neighbors show investigators digging in a planter behind the house.

Dhillon declined requests for comment from KGET-TV.

Six soldiers were honored, each receiving Meritorious Service Medals, Thursday for heroic actions responding to the shooting at Fort Stewart. “One of the things I can say unequivocally is that the fast action of these soldiers — under stress and under trauma and under fire — absolutely saved lives from being lost,” U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told reporters as the six soldiers stood near him Thursday. “They are everything that is good about this nation.” (Hyosub Shin/AJC)
