Georgia-based Flowers Foods has issued a voluntary recall of its hamburger, hot dog buns and other bakery products over potential plastic contamination concerns.

According to a company news release, small pieces of hard plastic may have been introduced during production and consumption of any recalled items may cause a choking hazard, though no injuries or illnesses have been reported.

“The products being recalled were distributed to retail customers under a variety of brand names and distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia,” according to Flowers Foods.

Recalled products include 7-Eleven’s 8-count hamburger buns (UPC 52548006600; best by date July 18, 2019; lot 111), Walmart Great Value 8-count hot dog buns (UPC 78742097282; best by date July 19, 2019; lot 111, 180) and many more.

A full list of affected products can be found here.

Anyone with a product on the list should either discard the item or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions can reach the Flowers' Consumer Relations Center at 1-866-245-8921 or via e-mail at www.flowersfoods.com/contact/consumers.
